Back with the usual price alert but first, as always, I want to circle back to a prior call and update on where it stands: Tamiyo’s Safekeeping foils. These have been on fire since the original call pegged them as a buy for $0.50-$1. TCG Direct has been selling at $5 consistently, and the non-Direct price has moved into the $2+ range. If you bought into these, make sure to have your copies listed. They’re a fine hold, but I prefer to sell while supply is still tight on NEO cards.
Onto the price increase alert! It’s Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar from Adventures in the Forgotten Realms (AFR). This card was admittedly completely off my radar until it was featured as an upgrade to ninja/rogue decks. The card was bulk after AFR released, but has since gone up 4x from $0.50 to $2+. I don’t see this trend stopping, and I am in for 12 copies at $1.25 off CardTrader Zero + I bought 4 foils for just under $3.
I suggest aiming for the same prices I paid or lower if you want to follow this spec. There’s almost an immediate profit to be had for TCG Direct sellers, and for non-Direct I expect this to catch up within 3-4 weeks.
Foils, as I mentioned, are intriguing only if you’re a Direct seller. The premium on them is $7+ compared to non-Direct around $3 for NM copies. I saw foil copies on CT0 for sub-$2, so those should definitely be in play no matter how you sell your cards.
